Product Warranty Details
CRL Cerium Oxide is a high-grade optical polishing compound used to lessen and polish scratches from mirror bevels, tabletop edges, and glass in vehicles or structures. CRL Cerium Oxide is mixed with water to form a paste or slurry. This compound has excellent suspension qualities and will not harden. Contains no zinc oxide, and meets most local disposal ordinances. This Cerium Oxide Compound can be used with a hand pad for light surface cleanup, powered hand devices for scratch and surface repair, mechanized scrubbers in mirror silvering lines, or as the final polishing step in multi-stage edging and beveling equipment.
CRL Cerium Oxide Compounds maintain and deliver a uniform particle size, on average 2.9 microns, and a high concentration of rare earth oxides to provide the brightest possible finish in all applications. These compounds exhibit exceptional suspension quality, required for use in today's recirculating slurry systems. The added benefit of soft settling means glass and equipment are more easily cleaned and maintained.
The efficiency of the Cerium Oxide polishing process depends on two important variables: Concentration and temperature. Too much Cerium Oxide is a waste of resources while too little impairs the quality of the end product.
Cerium Oxide compounds polish glass through a combination of mechanical and chemical action. The material must reach and maintain a certain temperature to stimulate the chemical reaction. The mechanical action employs felt pads or wheels. For surface restoration, the Cerium Oxide is mixed with water to form a thin paste that is applied directly to the glass surface. A damp felt pad or wheel is then used to agitate the paste. The friction of the wheel creates the heat needed to activate the polishing process. Too much heat will dry the paste, so care must be taken to keep the paste wet at all times.
For recirculating slurry systems, the concentration of Cerium Oxide in the water is based on the specific gravity of the slurry as measured in Degrees Baume, which is measured using a Hydrometer. Measure out the proper proportions of heated water (at least 80ºF/30ºC) and Cerium Oxide into a container and mix thoroughly. Place the Hydrometer into the mixture and take a reading at the surface line. For light surface cleaning such as pre-silvering, 1º Baume (1.6 oz. of Cerium per gallon of water or 11.8 grams per liter) is sufficient. For beveling and edging, a 3º to 5º Baume (4 to 7.2 oz. per gallon, or 29.7 to 53.7 grams per liter) is recommended. The slurry temperature should be maintained between 90ºF and 105ºF (32ºC and 40ºC) for optimum performance.

Feel free to contact us before ordering to minimize returns. Some windows can cost as much as $300 to ship, so a return could cost much more than anyone would like. In this case, no one is happy except for the shipping companies.

We only Warranty and handle the Warranty on factory direct VWD (Van Windows Direct) Product Lines unless otherwise specified. We take no responsibility for 3rd party brands' quality, fit, or finish; the manufacturer will decide on these warranties, and we offer zero compensation of any form for 3rd Party Brands. By purchasing from our company, you agree to these terms.
Warranties are provided solely by the manufacturer of that product. All products carry a Manufacture 30-day Limited Warranty unless otherwise specified.
It shall be the sole responsibility of the user(buyer) to determine the suitability of the product or material for each intended use, and the user shall assume all risks and liability in connection with the service, or inability to use, the product or material.
To the exclusion of all other remedies, the Manufacturer warrants and agrees to replace the defective part, window in its entirety, or at its sole option, to refund the purchase price product, which is proven upon inspection, to be defective in material or workmanship. In no event shall Van Windows Direct (Accessory Center Inc.) or Manufactures be responsible for any special, indirect, consequential, or incidental damages or loss, including, without limitation, loss of profits or revenues, labor or time expense, economic losses, and loss of use, whether statutory or based on theories of contract or tort. There are no other agreements, understandings, representations, or warranties, express or implied (including any regarding merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose) not specified herein. All items are sold as-is. Warranty begins the day the product is received and ends the allotted period in which the specific item is warranted if a replacement part, materials, or replacement window is shipped. The Warranty does not start over. It is based on the original delivery date.
Warranty Requirements:
Email Video / Photos of the product's suspected warranty issue. VWD Brand Product warranties will be handled in-house, AMA and CRL and other 3rd Party Brands warranties will be forwarded to said Manufacture. No product is guaranteed a warranty consideration. Each Warranty is at the sole discretion of the individual Manufacturer. We have no control over what is accepted and denied for Warranty. We will not offer any coverage to brands other than our VWD brand. Claim for Warranty must be started within the Warranty period. There are zero exceptions in this regard. The Warranty begins the day the item(s) are delivered. Regardless of when the product is opened or used. Any defective product pulled from the box after the warranty period is not covered.
